Girls’ Kabaddi Tournament Concludes at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, Winning Teams Honoured

New Delhi: A two-day Girls’ Kabaddi Tournament jointly organized by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College and Kreeda Bharati Delhi concluded successfully, with enthusiastic participation from 58 teams representing various institutions. The event showcased remarkable sporting skills, discipline, and team spirit. During the closing ceremony, the winning teams were honoured with certificates and medals.

Organized under the guidance of Kreeda Bharati by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Jai Prakash Sharma. The program commenced with inspiring addresses by the college Principal Dr. Neelam Goyal and Dr. Sharma, followed by the ceremonial toss.

In her address, Dr. Neelam Goyal emphasized that sports are not only essential for physical fitness but also play a crucial role in developing mental strength, discipline, and leadership qualities. She highlighted that a strong nation is built through empowered individuals and encouraged students to pursue continuous practice with determination.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Nirdesh Sharma, who underlined the importance of traditional sports like kabaddi. He mentioned ongoing efforts to include kabaddi in the 2036 Olympic Games, stressing the need for its wider promotion. He also motivated players to aim for excellence at national and international levels.

Distinguished guest Ashok Kumar Nirbhay was also present on the occasion. The dignitaries distributed certificates to all participants and awarded medals to the top teams. Team Yodha secured the first position, Team Fighters finished second, Team Thunder claimed third place, and Team Strikers stood fourth.

The successful conduct of the tournament was ensured by the dedicated efforts of international kabaddi coach Satyawanti, along with Assistant Professors Dr. Kavita Vats and Dr. Kumari Seema. Their guidance enabled smooth coordination and provided players with an excellent platform to demonstrate their talent.

Principal Dr. Neelam Goyal was specially felicitated for her continuous support and encouragement, which greatly boosted the morale of participants. She reiterated that sports build health, character, and ultimately contribute to nation-building, urging students to set high goals and strive to represent the country on global platforms like the Olympics.

The event also received valuable support from Kreeda Bharati Delhi’s IT Head Jatin, Pooja Mishra, and BJP state spokesperson Prof. Rajkumar Phulwaria. Their contributions ensured the smooth execution of the program.

The refereeing team led by international coach Satyawanti, along with teachers and officials, also played a key role in maintaining discipline and fairness throughout the tournament. The competition not only promoted the spirit of sportsmanship but also served as a strong platform for young girls to develop confidence, discipline, and a competitive mindset.
