Delhi’s talented young athlete Bhavya Bajaj has brought pride to the capital by winning a gold medal in the Under-17 girls’ roller skating event at the 69th National School Games being held in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. With this remarkable achievement, Delhi opened its medal tally at the Games, marking a strong and historic beginning in the very early phase of the competition. The success reflects not only Bhavya Bajaj’s dedication and discipline but also the collective efforts of Delhi’s school sports system, coaches and sports administration.
The 69th National School Games are being organized under the aegis of the National School Games Federation of India, with participation from young athletes across the country competing in various sports disciplines. Securing the top position in a technically demanding, balance- and speed-oriented sport like roller skating requires precision, stamina and mental strength. Facing stiff competition, Bhavya Bajaj demonstrated excellent technique, control and composure to clinch the gold medal in the final race.
Officials associated with the Sports Branch of the Directorate of Education, Delhi, expressed happiness over the achievement. They stated that systematic training, access to proper facilities and regular exposure to competitive events played a key role in this success. The guidance provided by the Director, Additional Director and Deputy Director (Sports) helped in building players’ confidence and ensuring focused preparation.
The role of coaches and team managers was also crucial in this victory. The coaching staff paid special attention to technical details, race strategy and psychological preparedness. Continuous support and motivation before and during the competition ensured that the athlete performed confidently even under pressure. Team management emphasized that the gold medal is the result of collective effort and disciplined planning.
