New Delhi: The police team from Sultan Puri has successfully apprehended two members of the notorious Sahil Snatcher Gang. The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak @ Lala (23), who has a history of involvement in over 30 criminal cases including snatching, theft, and burglary, and Aakash (20). Both are residents of T-Huts, Sultan Puri. Police have recovered a snatched mobile phone and a stolen motorcycle from their possession.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Jimmy Chiram (IPS) reported that on the morning of September 22, around 8:00 AM, a PCR call (DD No. 35) was received at the Sultan Puri police station regarding a mobile phone snatching incident. Upon arrival, officers learned that two individuals on a red motorcycle had snatched a mobile phone from a woman and fled the scene. An FIR (No. 839/24) was subsequently registered under relevant sections.
Later that day, during a routine patrol, Constable Bhure Khan spotted two suspects on a red motorcycle matching the description of the snatchers. After a brief chase, the suspects abandoned their motorcycle near DSIDC, Sultan Puri, and escaped on foot.
To apprehend the suspects, a dedicated team was formed, led by Inspector Darshan Lal, with officers including PSI Rahul, Head Constable Harpal, Constable Bhure Khan, and Constable Ajay, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajbir Malik. The team meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the vicinity of the incident and identified the suspects as Deepak @ Lala and Aakash.
Following the identification, the team gathered intelligence about the suspects’ hideouts. Acting on a tip-off, they conducted a raid near Phool Park, where Aakash was arrested. During his search, the stolen mobile phone was recovered. A red Apache motorcycle, identified as stolen from PS Nangloi (MVT FIR No. 29010/24), was also recovered based on his information.
Deepak @ Lala was later arrested near his residence. Both suspects confessed to their involvement in the gang and revealed that they had resorted to crime to support their drug addiction. The police are continuing their investigation and exploring further connections to the Sahil Snatcher Gang.
