17th Delhi State Rope Skipping Championship Concludes at Talkatora Stadium

New Delhi : The two-day 17th Delhi State Rope Skipping Championship-2025 was held at the capital’s Talkatora Stadium under the Fit India Movement. Organized under the aegis of the Rope Skipping Federation of India and Jump Rope Association Delhi (Registered), the competition saw participation from hundreds of athletes representing various schools and institutions across Delhi.

The closing ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Rakesh Goswami, All India Divyang Head of Kreeda Bharati and Paralympian; Bhanu Sachdeva, Delhi State President and Arjuna Awardee; Lalit Mohan Yadav, General Secretary of Kreeda Bharati Delhi; Nirdesh Sharma, Federation General Secretary; Ashok Kumar Nirbhay, Senior Vice President of the Association; Dr. Piyush Jain, National Sports Promotion Award winner; Shriprakash, Delhi Vice President and former Ranji player; and Rameshwar Dayal of Delhi Police.

Chief Guest Rakesh Goswami highlighted that the Fit India Movement is a visionary initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that children are becoming physically weaker due to addiction to mobiles and television, and sports like rope skipping not only keep them fit but also enhance mental focus. Bhanu Sachdeva described the championship as a platform to boost children’s confidence and sportsmanship, adding that such events will pave the way for future athletes to excel at national and international levels.

Nirdesh Sharma shared that the championship featured competitions in various categories, from junior to senior, including speed, freestyle, double Dutch, and team events. He emphasized that rope skipping has evolved beyond fitness and is now a globally competitive sport. Ashok Kumar Nirbhay underscored the sport’s importance for physical and mental development, stating that it fosters teamwork and confidence in children.

During the closing ceremony, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Dr. Sanjay Nishad, along with Bhanu Sachdeva, Rakesh Goswami, Lalit Mohan Yadav, Nirdesh Sharma, Ashok Kumar Nirbhay, Dr. Piyush Jain, Shriprakash, and Rameshwar Dayal, presented medals, trophies, certificates, and cash prizes to the winners. The outstanding performances by athletes on the first day won the hearts of the audience. A large number of parents, sports officials, and enthusiasts were present at the stadium.

Bhanu Sachdeva expressed hope that Delhi’s athletes would bring glory to the nation on international platforms. He added that sports inspire children to lead disciplined lives, keeping them away from drugs and bad habits. The championship concluded on a grand note, inspiring everyone towards sports and fitness.
