While International Women’s Day is celebrated every year to acknowledge the contributions of women in personal and public life, their role in our society is of utmost importance, which necessitates them to be empowered.
To emphasize the importance of Women’s empowerment, which is a must for our economic growth and overall development of the nation, a program on Role of women in society, their upliftment and empowerment was organised by Widow, Orphan & Handicapped People Trust of J&K at Govt Boys Higher Secondary, Magam.
The event was first of its kind wherein women from various sections of society of Magam Block participated in huge numbers. To make the event more effective, various NGOs and prominent speakers like Md Safi Mir, Shugfata Banday (District Hub Empowerment of Women), Javed Ahmed (Tehsil social welfare officer) and Kulushama Begam (Anganwadi Worker) shared their views on aforesaid issue.
84 women, 18 girls, 12 teachers and BDC Magam witnessed the event.
