Big Win for Chetan Kakria, Yash Mathur and Bharti Lakra in GGSIPU Polls

New Delhi. The Students’ Union Election 2025 at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University concluded with an enthusiastic atmosphere across the campus, culminating in a clear victory for the panel led by Chetan Kakria. According to the officially declared results, Chetan Kakria won the post of President, Yash Mathur secured the position of Vice President, and Bharti Lakra emerged victorious as the General Secretary. The announcement of results triggered celebrations throughout the university, with students gathering in large numbers to congratulate the winning candidates.

Polling was conducted peacefully, and the university administration ensured strict adherence to election guidelines. From the very beginning of the day, students were seen lining up at various faculty blocks to cast their votes. The steady voter turnout reflected the growing interest of the student community in campus leadership and representation. After the voting process concluded, counting began under tight supervision. As the trend of early leads started favoring the Kakria-led panel, supporters outside the counting center began chanting slogans in anticipation of victory.

Following his victory, Vice President-elect Yash Mathur expressed heartfelt gratitude to all students who placed their trust in him and the entire panel. He stated that the mandate given by the students is not merely a personal win but a collective success for the entire student community. Mathur added that he has consistently raised student-centric issues in the past and will continue to fight for their rights, academic improvements, and welfare-oriented reforms within the university. His statement was met with loud cheers from supporters, who hailed the leadership’s commitment to addressing campus concerns.

President-elect Chetan Kakria also addressed students gathered around the university lawns, thanking them for their overwhelming support. He emphasized that the new union aims to bring transparency, accessibility, and stronger communication channels between students and the administration. Kakria noted that the union will work on enhancing academic resources, improving hostel facilities, and ensuring that grievances are resolved in a timely and fair manner. His message focused on inclusivity, promising that the union would represent every department and every student voice within the university.

General Secretary Bharti Lakra, known on campus for her active participation in student welfare campaigns, expressed her resolve to strengthen student engagement. She highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive academic environment and promoting opportunities for cultural, sports, and research activities. According to Lakra, the new team intends to collaborate with department councils and student groups to organize more interactive programmes that contribute to overall student growth.

Soon after the results were declared, the entire campus witnessed celebratory scenes. Supporters welcomed the winning candidates with garlands, dhols, and chants, while several student groups marched across the campus carrying banners and flags. The administrative block and central lawns remained crowded late into the evening as students celebrated the beginning of a new term of student leadership. The newly elected panel is expected to assume office shortly, after the formal completion of the oath-taking process. With a decisive mandate and high expectations, the new leadership now faces the task of fulfilling its promises and ushering in constructive developments within the university.
